Mindfulness and ADHD

Lidia Zylowska, M.D., conducted the first study of mindfulness training on teens and adults with ADHD and is cofounder of UCLA's Mindful Awareness Research Center. In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, Dr. Zylowska discusses her approach and offers practice tips.

Dr. Zylowska discusses how mindfulness can re-route automatic and “unhelpful” reactions, and how basic mindfulness tenets can teach individuals with ADHD “when to be compassionate and accepting of ADHD symptoms, and knowing when to encourage changing an unhelpful pattern in thinking, feeling or actions.”
